Merma is the God of the ocean. Worshippers of Merma are known as Mermans, and are infamous for going door-to-door, trying to convince people to either become a member of their religion, or, failing that, to persuade people that the Hisaw, Rose, Burg and Teegarl Seas should be renamed "Oceans", due to Merma's ongoing rivalry with Tangaroa, the God of the Sea.

Merma is significantly more popular with people who live underwater and pirates than she is with land-dwellers.
